Hands-On Dog Training in Kiln, Mississippi

Our 1-on-1 dog training program is built for owners who want to be the one doing the work. You and your dog come to our Kiln, MS facility for structured sessions with a professional trainer, then practice the techniques at home between visits. Over the course of 4 core sessions and roughly 6–8 weeks, your dog learns reliable obedience and you learn how to be the leader your dog needs.

We developed this program specifically because of demand. Many owners told us they wanted the same proven techniques our board and train graduates get — without the cost of a full 7-week stay. The trade off is straightforward: you save money, but you have to do daily homework. For owners who follow through, the results are excellent and often equal to what we'd see in a board and train.

Who Should Choose 1-on-1 Sessions Over Board and Train?

The 1-on-1 program is a great fit if you have time to practice at home daily, your dog doesn't have severe behavior issues, and you want to be deeply involved in the training process. It's also ideal for puppies, since early consistent training from the actual owner builds the strongest long-term bond. If your schedule doesn't allow daily practice, or if you're dealing with serious aggression or reactivity, our board and train program is usually the better choice.

We work with owners from across the Mississippi Gulf Coast — Bay St. Louis, Waveland, Diamondhead, Pass Christian, Long Beach, Gulfport, Biloxi, and surrounding areas. Most clients live within a 30-minute drive of our Kiln facility.

The Program Structure

1
First Visit: Foundation

The first visit lays out the entire program and establishes the foundation work you'll need to practice at home. You will need to do your homework for roughly 2 weeks. This session typically lasts about an hour.

Duration: ~1 hour + 2 weeks homework

2
Second Session: Evaluation

We evaluate your progress and check how well you and your dog are doing. This is where we troubleshoot any hangups or challenges you've encountered during practice and move you and your dog to the next homework assignment for roughly 2 weeks.

Focus: Progress Check + 2 weeks homework

3
Third Step: Advanced Work

We once again evaluate you and your dog's progress and coach you through how to fine tune things. We also move you towards distractions and other obstacles that you and your dog can learn to work as a team through them.

Adding distractions and obstacles

Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions does the 1-on-1 program require?
The core program is 4 sessions spaced roughly 2 weeks apart, with optional ongoing tune-up sessions. The total time commitment is approximately 6–8 weeks for the structured program, though many owners continue with additional sessions for advanced work, distraction proofing, or specific behavior issues.
How is the 1-on-1 program different from board and train?
In the 1-on-1 program, you do the daily training work at home between sessions with our guidance. Board and train is the opposite — your dog lives at our facility for 7 weeks and we do the daily work for you. 1-on-1 is significantly more affordable but requires real commitment from you. Board and train is faster and easier on the owner but a bigger investment.
How much does 1-on-1 dog training cost?
Pricing varies based on the package and number of sessions. Hourly sessions are by far our most affordable option and a great starting point for owners who want to be hands-on. Please contact us for current pricing — we're transparent about cost.
Do I need to practice at home between sessions?
Yes — daily practice at home between sessions is essential. We provide a detailed homework plan after each session so you know exactly what to work on. Even 15–20 minutes a day of structured practice will produce dramatic results. Without that consistency, the program won't deliver the same outcomes.
Is the 1-on-1 program suitable for puppies?
Yes. The 1-on-1 program is excellent for puppies because early consistency is the single biggest factor in raising a well-behaved adult dog. We adjust pacing, expectations, and techniques based on your puppy's age and temperament. Many owners start working with us as soon as their puppy is fully vaccinated.
What if my dog has behavior problems like leash pulling or jumping?
These are some of the most common issues we address in the 1-on-1 program. We'll diagnose the root cause (most behavior issues are about communication and structure, not the dog being 'bad'), give you specific techniques to use at home, and then check your progress at each session.
How long does it take to see results in 1-on-1 training?
Most owners see noticeable improvement within the first 1–2 weeks of consistent homework. Reliable obedience typically develops over the full 6–8 week program. The pace depends almost entirely on how consistent you are at home — dogs who get daily practice progress much faster than dogs who only train during sessions.
Can I bring my dog to your facility for the 1-on-1 sessions?
Yes — sessions are held at our Kiln, MS facility. After step 4, we welcome you to come work your dog around multiple handlers training other dogs at the same time, which is an excellent real-world distraction environment.
What if I'm struggling between sessions?
Reach out. We're not going to leave you stuck. Quick questions can usually be answered by phone or text, and if you're really struggling we'll help you troubleshoot at your next session or schedule an extra one if needed.
